The United States Postal Service (USPS), announced in February 2013, that it would end Saturday delivery of first-class mail starting in August of 2013. Package delivery will still take place on Saturday and Post Office's may still be available for various services as well.
- On April 10, 2013, USPS backed down on their plans to remove Saturday service because Congress isn't allowing the change. The plan to remove Saturday service is NOT off the table, but removal of the service will no longer take place in August of 2013 as previously announced.
- As of February 5, 2014 there is still no new plans to remove Saturday service although due to pre-funding of pension accounts the USPS continues to operate deeply in the red and is continually exploring ways to reduce costs. This page will continue to follow the cancellation of the possibility of Saturday mail delivery.
